I’ve got 99 Problems but my Gin ain’t One

Written by Tom Greer – UP863476

Delve into the world of Gin with some of the most exciting flavours and innovations to have reached the British shores. These are three stand out spirits to have tickled the tongues of Britain’s most avid Gin fans.

MARTIN MILLER’S GIN

Making your brand stand out in a very condensed market is difficult but, this is what this Gin does so well. The full citrus taste with notes of juniper are a pleasure to taste, but the clean soft finish is perfected using Icelandic spring water. This method of creation is unique in the world of Gin and sees the spirit complete a 3000-mile round trip between England and Iceland. This method gives the gin it’s trademark softness.

OPIHR ORIENTAL SPICED GIN

This botanical gin emerged from the 15th and 16th century and uses ingredients that would then have been considered oriental. Now the ingredients come from over 5 different countries along the traditional ‘Spice route’. I’m sure you can tell from the name that the spirit has an intense and unique spicy flavour. This spice creates a warmth in the mouth and leaves notes of coriander and ginger.

ONE GIN

This British gin ‘One Gin’ comes from the ethical drinks company One Drinks. It takes 9 botanicals from round the world and marries it with English sage to create a herbal and citrus flavour. The spirit to crafted in small batches to create a smooth finish. At least 10% of the profits from all the One Drinks products are donated to fund life changing water projects across the world. As of January 2019, this stands at over £15 million.

With G&T’s being synonymous with British culture, and over 60 million bottles sold in 2018, it is no surprise that there is such a range on offer.

  2. Form ground beef mixture into 6 patties.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium heat; lay pancetta slices in a single layer in the hot skillet. Cook until pancetta begins to sweat, 3 to 5 minutes. Remove pancetta from skillet and keep warm.

Footnotes

  • Cook’s Notes:
  • Pancetta is very salty; try low-sodium bacon as an alternative. I make my own soft yeast dinner rolls to use as buns for these burgers. The slightly denser bun is much more appealing than a mushy store-bought bun.
  • Can also be made into sliders by using smaller buns and patties. Recipe makes 15 sliders.

Best Bar Food

Bar food makes people better enjoy alcohol. The previous blog introduced some bar foods in the UK, and today we will continue to introduce other bar foods.

Beef Sliders

This is a super-mini beef burger that is also slap-sized, claiming that calories are only a quarter of regular burgers. Every time I come up with a plate, it is very suitable for friends to share with friends!

Nachos

A Mexican-style snack that has the same shape as a potato chip, but the material is changed to corn. Generally, barbecue sauce, ketchup, or some side dishes are served on top of the shortbread. The crunchy taste is very good, and it is also very Mexican!

Cornish Pasty

Cornish Pasty is from Cornwall! The traditional industry there is a tin mine, and the Cornish pie is a lunch for miners. Semi-circular meringues are wrapped in cooked vegetables, such as onions, mushrooms, and corn, so that miners can easily carry them into the mining area. The bar will also add meat to the pie to make the dishes more rich.

Ploughman’s Lunch

This is a set meal in a lot of bars, a cold food, usually a big cheese, served with bread, salad and fried onions, very Scottish!

I hope everyone can enjoy the delicious bar food and and enjoy the joy of the bar.

Delicious Bar Food

Bar culture is very popular in the UK. In the evening, you can often see a team outside the bar. Many people like to meet friends at the bar. The bar also offers dishes in addition to alcohol. Today we will introduce the relevant bar food.

Buffalo Chicken Wings

The fried chicken wings produced in the bar have the unique flavor of the bar. The fried chicken wings of each bar have different characteristics. It is a good experience to eat chicken wings when drinking.

Cheese-Stuffed Padrón Peppers

In fact, this snack does not seem to be the “original” of the British, but a Spanish snack, which is filled with cheese and some spices in the split Padrón pepper, and then fried. Although it sounds a bit strange, but the feeling of eating “creamy + spicy” is really amazing.

Trifle

Trifle is a very, very traditional English dessert made up of layers of custard sauce, cream, sponge cake, fruit and jelly. It is often served with sherry, rich in flavor and very tasty.

Pork Scratchings

Pork Scratchings is one of the most popular bar snacks in the UK. Fried pork skin is a traditional dish in the Scottish region and is very chewy. The British like to order a fried pork skin at the bar and pick up a piece of beer for a night.

Today I introduced these bar food and I hope that everyone will have time to taste some and let them enjoy the bar better.

Lets Talk about Beer Baby

Written by Tom Greer – UP863476

What kind of beers will you be drinking in 2019? Something Hoppy? Fruity? Low in alcohol? Read and find out our picks for the beer to make you cheer in the coming year.

Healthy Drinkers – Erdinger Alkoholfrei – 0.5% Wheat Beer

Towards the end of 2018, there was a growing trend for low alcohol and alcohol-free beers, which is expected to continue into this year. Erdinger has created a wheaty German bottled beer that, as well as having low alcohol, it’s promoted as a healthy drink designed to give its drinkers a health kick after exercise. All this comes without the lost of the impressive tastes and aromas of German wheat beers.

A Classic – MeanTime London Pale Ale – 4.3% APA

150 years ago, the bitter beer style, Pale Ale was in such high demand that brewers had to import hops from America to sedate the need. Based on MeanTimes APA it’s easy to see why. Mixed with local Kentish Goldings, the complex citrus aroma combines perfectly with the bitterness to make a truly refreshing beer perfect for a sunny beer garden or a quiet night in.

Pallet change – Red Stripe Dragon Stout – 7.5% Stout

This Jamaican Export has been brewed there since 1920. The very dark colour and slightly burned aroma might give a bad first impression, but the taste is unexpectedly sweet. The distinct vanilla and caramel undertones make this a very easy to drink beer. Dragon stout is actually too sweet to accompany a meal but goes well with chocolaty desserts and ice cream.

Over 700 breweries opened last year alone so the list of great beers will be endless. I have no doubt that 2019 will be a fantastic year for beer.

Tips for new bartenders

by Up861517

So you just got a job a bartender with no experience before and your looking for a few tips before you start. Let me tell you after working in the bar industry since 17 it is a very fun job to have either part or full time. Here are some tips for you before starting.

  1. LEARN HOW TO POUR A PINT: Okay look, nothing annoys customers more than having beer with 50% of the beer being a foamy head. Remember pour at a 45 degree and angle until the foam hits the top of the glass then upwards to get a good head on the beer.
  2. Smile: From experience, I know that customers love a bartender who smiles. The more the you smile the more likely the customer is going to buy more drinks, come back for more drinks or come back to the business at some point in the foreseeable future.
  3. Learn how to make the cocktails on the menu before starting your shift: Trust me there is nothing worst than on a Saturday night when a customer asks you for a certain cocktail like long island iced tea and you have no clue how to make it. People you are working with won’t have a time to help as they are serving people and customers get impatient.
