Tips for new bartenders

So you just got a job a bartender with no experience before and your looking for a few tips before you start. Let me tell you after working in the bar industry since 17 it is a very fun job to have either part or full time. Here are some tips for you before starting.

  1. LEARN HOW TO POUR A PINT: Okay look, nothing annoys customers more than having beer with 50% of the beer being a foamy head. Remember pour at a 45 degree and angle until the foam hits the top of the glass then upwards to get a good head on the beer.
  2. Smile: From experience, I know that customers love a bartender who smiles. The more the you smile the more likely the customer is going to buy more drinks, come back for more drinks or come back to the business at some point in the foreseeable future.
  3. Learn how to make the cocktails on the menu before starting your shift: Trust me there is nothing worst than on a Saturday night when a customer asks you for a certain cocktail like long island iced tea and you have no clue how to make it. People you are working with won’t have a time to help as they are serving people and customers get impatient.
